When I Ask You to Give

When I ask you to give,
I am telling you to live

Do you not give some air
to get a flow of breath?

When you want a life,
do you not bring your cells?

When I ask you to give,
I am telling you to live

Do you not let fluid out
to renew with water?

Do you not make bowel space
to receive a refill?

When I ask you to give,
I am telling you to live

Would you receive of the ground
without giving your seeds?

Would the waters be good,
if they never flow away?

When I ask you to give,
I am telling you to live

Because when we don’t,
death hurries in steal.
